After a hailstorm
What hail actually does to an air conditioner.
North Texas sits in one of the most hail-prone parts of the country, and the outdoor unit is the part of your HVAC system that takes the hit. The damage is rarely dramatic. It is usually a coil that can no longer breathe.
Fins are flattened
The thin aluminium fins that shed heat get pressed together, closing the gaps air has to pass through.
Airflow drops
Less air over the coil means less heat rejected, so pressures and temperatures inside the system rise.
The system strains
It runs longer for less cooling and works its compressor harder — often without any obvious sign from inside the house.

Hail just came through. Should I run my air conditioner?
If it runs normally and cools, usually yes. If you hear new rattling or scraping, the fan looks damaged, or the unit trips its breaker, switch it off and call. Either way, photograph the outdoor unit from all four sides before anything is touched, and keep the photos.
Can you tell me whether my insurance will pay for hail damage?
No. We do not interpret insurance policies or advise on claims. We inspect the equipment, photograph and describe the damage in writing, and explain what it needs to work properly. What your policy covers is between you and your insurer.
Do you work on businesses as well as homes?
Yes, equally. Houses and townhomes across Lewisville and Flower Mound, and offices, retail, restaurants and light industrial buildings, including rooftop units.
Will I get a written price before work starts?
Yes. Diagnostic first, then a written, itemised price, then your decision. Nothing billable beyond the diagnostic happens before you agree to it.
What does "Wall Coatings" in your name mean?
It is part of the business name, not a second trade. Brookfield is a heating and air conditioning contractor. We do not paint, coat or refinish walls.
